Leather made for the long assignment

A working harness will record the assignment: sunlight, rain, dust, long days, and the oils from your hands. That change is part of honest leather. Care is less about keeping it untouched and more about helping the material dry, flex, and age evenly.

After the shoot

• Remove cameras and accessories before cleaning or drying the harness.
• Wipe away surface dust or moisture with a clean, soft cloth.
• Let damp leather dry naturally in a ventilated room, away from direct heat.
• Store the harness relaxed rather than folded under heavy equipment.

Inspect the load points

Before the next assignment, look over the sliders, fasteners, stitching, and camera connections. A quick inspection is especially useful after travel or any shoot where the harness carried unusual weight.

When the workshop should see it

If you see damaged hardware, cut leather, loose stitching, or a connection that no longer moves as intended, take the harness out of service and contact Republic Leather. The repair service can help evaluate an existing RL Handcrafts or Republic Leather system before it returns to the field.
